Just turn up
This cold and draughty 1930s solid wall house was significantly improved by draught-proofing and installing underfloor insulation and rebuilding and insulating the old kitchen extension. The kitchen roof was rebuilt with extended overhangs to allow for external wall insulation to be installed in a later phase of work. The retrofit measures undertaken were informed by a strategic heat-loss report which identified the worst areas and a roadmap for improvements. The owners found the house impossible to heat during their first winter and these measures have already improved the heat levels and comfort considerably.
