Moving into a Georgian listed building in a conservation area means that there are many restraints on what can be done. One common misunderstanding is that Grade II listing is only for the external features of the building. In fact, the listing covers everything within the curtilage of the property, inside and out at the time of listing (in our case 1953). Two major projects were undertaken:
1. Retrofitting high performance windows to the original Georgian specifications.
2. Build a solar canopy in the rear of the house
We got Listed Building Consent for both projects. We will have a story board to explain the project and take questions.
